Tom Tilley
Experience and Education
Tom supports Mariner advisors and educates their business owner clients and prospects on their business exit options and directs them to the appropriate resources within the Mariner/Woodbridge team.
Tom has 20 years of experience in the investment banking and merger and acquisition industry. Prior to joining Mariner, he was a managing partner at the DVS Group. He has been involved in more than 150 transactions in his career, managing and leading deal teams in formulating marketing and transaction strategy to create a competitive market and drive the highest value for clients’ businesses.
Additionally, Tom is experienced in leading the entire process of a sell-side engagement, from sourcing proprietary engagements to closing the transaction. This includes managing the transaction process, negotiating all aspects of the transaction and guiding the transaction through a successful closing. He has deep experience in industries-manufacturing, distribution, infrastructure, commercial and personal lines insurance, aviation services, health care and service-based companies across multiple industries.
Tom is a frequent presenter and educator on the investment banking process and value to Mariner advisors as well as other Mariner partner firms and affiliates. He attended Michigan State University on a hockey scholarship and went on to play for the St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning professional hockey organizations.
Personal Interests
Away from the office, Tom sits on the board of directors for a successful family-owned food distribution company that serves the central U.S. He enjoys coaching a 9- to 10-year-old boys’ and girls’ hockey team.
